I recently reviewed the Razer Imperator 2012 and compared it to my dead Deathadder. it felt good in gaming(FPS game to be exact) as I already adjusted with it but the small cursor jump bug isn’t fix yet(honestly I don’t think this will be fixed by Razer) and that mattered to me so I looked for a much cheaper but effective gaming mouse. I stumbled on the Logitech G400 gaming mouse in our local gaming store Datablitz. Of coarse I don’t just jump in and buy, a little research and I found out that this is a successor to the legendary Logitech MX518 mouse. I never use that mouse before but judging from the gamers feedback it was indeed a good mouse. I also found out that there are 2 versions of G400 and most gamers who wants this are looking for the v2 which the angle snapping was removed. Now what is angle snapping? Sorry for being a noob but I don’t even know but I just joined the bandwagon and make sure that I have the v2/angle snapping removed revision. You will know if you have the v2 if the PID is LZ13333 and above or if you really want to be 100% sure then look for the serial number and no PIDs. Just look under the box for PID/serial number(a déjà vu back then when I was looking for a Jasper Xbox). Anyway enough of the little background and hints let’s go to the review.
First thing I noticed was it’s a big mouse, bigger than Imperator. I needed another adjustment but it didn’t took that long and it felt natural and comfortable. Driver is easy to install and software can easily be configured to your preferences. Playing it if Battlefield 3 and damn it is so good without any issues. For browsing/work, no cursor jump like the Razer Imperator. To make it short, this is a simple perfect mouse. The only cons I can see is the hardware itself like the cable is thin, no led light(doesn’t matter to me), the buttons on the left side and scroll feels like a bit cheap BUT never let this stop you from getting this mouse! Those are just a minor issues and it will not bother your overall experience.
To sum it up, Logitech G400 is one of the best mouse at a very good price. I’ve been using this more often than Imperator. If you have the money to spend, there are tons of expensive and good mouse out there but if you are tight on budget I highly recommend this mouse.
